A variety of typical Old Rose beauty. The small, rounded buds gradually open to large, very full, deeply cupped flowers of soft glowing pink, gradually turning lilac pink over time. The flowers are held elegantly poised on the branches with the greyish-green foliage setting them off to perfection.
There is a pleasing fragrance with a hint of myrrh.
‘Spirit of Freedom’ is a strong growing variety that will form a large shrub, ideal for the back of the border. It can also be trained as a graceful short climber with nodding blooms and long, arching stems that can be easily fanned out to encourage growth.
